On the middle Wednesday of every month, we descend on The Eagle - with burning log fires, great beer and a lively atmosphere the popoularity of Acoustic Night is steadily growing. We handpick some of the best and most unusual local musicians to perform acoustically in this relaxed and friendly environment. Many of which scale down their usual full band line up to perform a mixture of original and popular music.

Last night saw a combination of acoustic guitars, harmonious vocals, violin, sax, ukelele, and banjo, A mixture of well loved classics , re- arranged favourites and original material all joined together with lots of banter !

Come and see us - Next one 14th March 8:00pm

Northwood House came to life on Friday Night with a beautiful programme of live music. Guests arrived and drank champagne in the Rotunda while listening to young Opera singer Herbie Hill Reid. Moving through to the main house guests were welcomed by Spanish Guitar Duo Ashley Nicholls and Thomas Janes. Local Singer/Songwriter Paul Armfield played to a hushed audience in the Drawing Room, a charismatic mix of his own compositions, acoustic guitar and the poetry of Tennyson was greatly enjoyed by everyone. West End Musical Director, Griff Johnson played an improvised jazz set on the beautiful Grand Piano in the candlelit Dining Room and was joined by the winners of The Arundel Festival Youth Vocal Cup, Sophie and Naomi Miller.

The evening was ended in style by The Sirens Band; an eight piece ensemble led by vocalists Anna Thompson and Sharon Blaikie who lit up the Ballroom with an eclectic mix of acoustic tunes, harmonies and dance floor anthems. Beautiful canapes were provided throughout by All About Catering. Landon Sounds would like to thank the Trustees of Northwood House for allowing them the opportunity to present this showcase in such a unique venue.

Spokesman for Landon Sounds Kieran Moore says ‘Our aim was to bring together young and established musicians from the Mainland and the Island. A great evening was had by all and we hope to callaborate again in the future’. Ann Thwaites, Chairman of Trustees said, ‘We were pleased to host this showcase musical extravaganza at Northwood House. It was a fabulous evening of music from tranquillity to rock and roll. If you weren’t there you missed a treat!’

The Sirens Band performed an acoustic set last night at the new- build hospice in Worthing. St. Barnabas House is a local independent charitable hospice, first opened in 1973 by a local GP Dr. Francis Gusterson. It is a non-religious organisation that offers palliative care for patients with advanced cancer and other advanced life-limiting diseases. The Hospice’s new building is an inspiring place to be and a true example of what can be achieved if people pull together. Thank you to Bennett Griffin for inviting us last night and to all the staff at St Barnabas for all of the great work they do.

Sat 21st
Ok, so there was some rain and on the first night we did not quite make it to headline the main stage which was water logged, but the show must go on and it did! To a packed bar in The Red Lion, with 6 musicians, half a sound system, one drum, and one mic between us we had a wild time , on what Andy described as one of his favourite Sirens gigs. A brilliant crowd, thank you so much to Chris the landlord for having us at a moments notice and to everyone who waited in the rain.

Fri 27th
Of course in a town as beautiful as Arundel, where else is there to be but in the town centre which is where we were all afternoon on Friday. The sun actually came out, until we sang Summertime at which point it went in again but how fab to have such a diverse audience, children, cyclists, shop keepers, shoppers, dog walkers, delivery men, publicans, traffic wardens, well maybe not traffic wardens but to those who turned out specially and those who accidentally passed by it was great to see you.

Sat 28th
Sirens made it onto the main stage and loved every minute . Joined by Alex Kriche on the keys and vocals, Andy Sturges on drums, Matt Hughes on bass, Paul Dymott on guitar Shazza and Anna rocked out . Thank you to a lovely friendly audience and a great technical crew. It was a blast!

Sun 29th
Back on the mainstage for an acoustic set with Alex and Paul, the sun shone, beer flowed and it was a great atmosphere.
Finally, to end off our Arundel Festival experience we were joined by John Limpus on guitar for a crazy night in Jazzmins. There was champagne, wild dancing, audience participation, and I remember a fluffy bear and an opera singer, but hey what goes on in Jazz mins should probably stay there.
Big thanks to all of our audiences, Glenda Harkiss and all the technical guys, a great week!

A Full on weekend for the Sirens Band, Friday night at Chartham Park Golf Club saw a great friendly crowd, free sausages and lots of wild dance floor antics. The Sirens Band were joined by the lovely Chris White on sax.

The wedding party of Augustus and Theresa Brandt on Saturday was a beautiful event in Petworth– Steve Kelly led the first set with some lovely mellow sax tunes before the Sirens girls rocked it late into the night. Really great people and huge hospitality - thank you for having us and wishing you both every happiness in your life together.
Beautiful sunshine in the grounds of Knepp Castle on Sunday afternoon saw great sets from The Fragellistics and the Hit Squad before The Sirens Band took to the stage for a final set.

Loads of fun in such a beautiful setting – thank you to everyone who stayed out even when the sun had gone in.

This is the seventh year that Sharon and I have been a part of this event. Along with Sally McFall we have provided the backing vocals for Party Near the Park’s Bono, Freddy Mercury, Lyneard Skynnard, Liza Minelli, Barry Manilow, and Duran Duran , We have sung themes from James Bond Movies , Copacabanna, The Rocky Horror Show and Cabaret . We have watched Managing Directors, Directors, Personal Assistants, Secretaries and Board Trustees all hit the PNTP stage.

At the moment , as Sirens, Sharon and I do in excess of 60 gigs a year and this is without doubt one of our favourites. There is something very heart warming about seeing so many giants from the Property Industry taking a leap out of their comfort zone to put their faith in the hands of the PNTP team and the band. They burst through the rehearsal doors panting ‘here I am, I have rushed here from my 6:00pm meeting where I have talked projected targets , increasing nett worth and place shaping, I may have to go back to the office after this but for the next 20 minutes I am going to attempt to release my inner rock god for the sake of the greater good.’ It would be true to say that some inner rock gods are nearer the surface than others but, without exception, they emerge, oh yes they do !, and from where we stand, at the back, there purely to support the monster ,the moment of unleashing is a brilliant one.

We are all working towards the same thing, the night Thursday 3rd June, Old Billingsgate Market, an evening of fantastic entertainment, great food, drink and, most importantly, the chance to raise a load of money for Land Aid. I grew up in Stepney, lived on the Commercial Rd, a thoroughfare for many of London’s homeless. We had a stash of plastic cups under the sink . If someone shuffled to the door needing a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich then you made them one, that was the rule. I live in leafy Surrey now . We don’t get many callers. It is easy to forget . On the walk to Terminal Studios from London Bridge, however, on a day in May when it should be warm but it isn’t and it shouldn’t be raining but it is, there is a stream of reminders of the need for Land Aid; young people cocooned in sleeping bags, elderly men huddled in doorways, sons and daughters just on the move from one place to another. So for Party near the Park 2010, I say check out www.landiad.org and unleash the Rock Gods!

Dressed in black sequins and the obligatory red stilettos Sirens rocked the Arundel Sparkle Ball in the grounds of the beautiful Arundel Castle on Friday night!

On stage with their band; John Limpus, Brett Welcome, Andy Sturges and Matt Hughes Anna Thompson and Sharon Blaikie were also joined by top brass players Frank Waldon and Adam Brown and together they played a wild 300 strong audience into the early hours of Sat morning. Sirens started with a mellow, acoustic after dinner set followed by two sets of dance anthems from the 70s through to new releases.

“The audience were brilliant” said Anna, “they were with us from the first number to the last, the people of West Sussex certainly know how to party! It has been a fantastic event and we are delighted that the organisers have raised so much money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust”.

Sirens ended a night of networking for LWS last night with a short and exclusive gig. People representing a large variety of local companies gathered in the beautiful Northfields House to drink champagne, eat fantastic food and ultimately make new exciting contacts in the local business world. Sirens performed at Northfields a few months ago accompanied by Brett Wellcome at the Grand Piano, but last night proved that this beautiful house can also be a great venue for a full band as Sirens were joined by John’ Rock God’ Limpus on acoustic/electric guitar, Andy Sturges on drums, Matt Hughes on Double Bass/electric bass and Brett Wellcome on Keys.

Sirens hit the Red Lion in Arundel on Sat 27th Feb. With candles on the tables and a great crowd of people Sharon and Anna started with a mellow set with John Limpus on the acoustic guitar, and then warmed the evening up. When John switched to his electric guitar they rocked the house until late into the night when after several encores they switched back for a few acoustic numbers. Thanks to a great crowd who were in fine voice it was a marvellous night. Sirens are delighted to be going back to the Red Lion on Saturday 5th June.
